Driver suspected of hitting cyclist surrenders to police

MEDINA TOWNSHIP, OH (WOIO) -

According to Medina Township Police, the driver involved in the hit-skip of a bicyclist on Tuesday morning turned herself in. Police say she did not know she had hit someone until seeing her vehicle on TV and on social media.

Police are not releasing her name at this time. 

The incident happened on Marks Road at Yellowstone Drive around 8 a.m. Police say the vehicle struck the cyclist, then sped off heading eastbound on Yellowstone. 

The cyclist was life-flighted to MetroHealth Medical Center where he remains in ICU. 

Police believe they have security camera footage of the vehicle driving by a home in the neighborhood, immediately after the crash. 

An investigation is ongoing. Anyone with more information is asked to call Medina Township Police at 330-723-1408.
