CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - Police are investigating after a truck crashed into a 7-Eleven convenience store on Cleveland's east side early Wednesday morning in a devastating smash-and-grab.
According to Cleveland Police, the vehicle drove into the store at 1035 East 185th just before 4 a.m. The 24-hour store was open, but there were no customers inside, only two employees.
By the time officers responded, the suspects and vehicle were gone. A search to find them turned up empty.
Employees inside the store told police a dark-colored pickup truck parked in a parking spot just outside the store. The driver of the vehicle then rammed into the glass front of the store and three other individuals began trying to load the store's ATM onto the truck.
After they took the ATM, the driver and one suspect fled in the vehicle, while the other two fled on foot towards the back of the store.
No suspect or vehicle description is available. Anyone with more information can call the Fifth District detectives at (216) 623-5500.
