Ravenna girl biking to school hit by truck

RAVENNA, OH (WOIO) - Ravenna Police and Ohio State Highway Patrol are investigating after a young girl was struck by a truck on Wednesday morning.

Police say she was headed to school when she was hit around 8:30 a.m. at the corner of Main and Prospect streets. According to firefighters, the child was in a crosswalk on a bicycle when she was hit by a a semi-tractor trailer type vehicle.

EMS transported her to University Hospital Portage Medical Center. She was later transported by air ambulance to another medical facility.

Her condition, age, and name has not yet been released.

Police say the truck driver stopped and is cooperating with police.

So far, no charges have been filed.
