CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - A 75-year-old man rescued from a burning home on Cleveland's west side has died.
The fire started in the 3100 block of West 56th Street around 4:40 a.m. Thursday.
After the fire was extinguished, Roma Sparks was found inside. Firefighters pulled him from the home and rushed him to MetroHealth Medical Center. He was suffering from cardiac arrest and died around 6 a.m.
Officers arrested 36-year-old Charles Davenport at the scene for aggravated arson and aggravated murder, but charges have not been filed yet. Firefighters say the suspect admitted to setting the fire, which destroyed the home.
This is being considered the city's 111th homicide.
