AKRON, OH (WOIO) - Trial is underway in Summit County for a man accused of murdering his wife in 1985.
Scott Purk is already in prison for arson. He set fire to his Stow home in March 2009. Police say the motive was to collect insurance money.
He was also convicted of setting fire to a duplex in Stow in March 2010. The resident of the duplex was at home and asleep when the fire started, but managed to escape unharmed.
Purk was sentenced in January 2013 to 28 years in prison.
While investigating the arson, police began looking into the murder of his first wife, Margaret Ann Purk. Her death was originally ruled a suicide.
