Driver wanted after child injured in hit-skip outside Cleveland school

CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -

The Cleveland Division of Police Accident Investigation Unit is investigating after a 7-year-old boy was struck by a vehicle outside a school on Cleveland's west side on Tuesday afternoon.

Police say the incident happened around 3 p.m. at West 150th Street and Coe Avenue in front of Robinson G. Jones Elementary School.

According to police, the boy was crossing West 150th with the pedestrian cross light in his favor, when the suspect vehicle travelling southbound on West 150th ran the red light and hit him. The vehicle then fled the scene, continuing southbound on West 150th. 

The child was taken to MetroHealth Medical Center with head and rib injuries.

Police describe the suspect vehicle as a dark-colored sedan. No suspect information is available.
