AKRON, OH (WOIO) -

There have been nine fatal aircraft crashes in Akron since 1968, according to planecrashmap.com. That includes Tuesday's fatal small jet crash on Mogadore Road.

The most recent happened March 19, 2000 when a small plane crashed into two homes as it took off from Akron Fulton International Airport. The pilot was killed.

A helicopter crashed on Sept. 10, 1995 as it took off from the airport, killing the pilot.

A pilot and builder of a Quickie II airplane was taking off and landing in the traffic pattern when it crashed on July 9, 1995. The pilot did not survive.

On Sept. 29, 1993, A Piper airplane hit the ground after an uncontrolled descent during bad weather in Akron, killing the pilot and two passengers. The plane was on its way to Harrisburg, Pa., when it crashed.
