CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - When Rachel Krych left her job to be a stay at home mom she knew financially things would have to change for her family. So she cut spending by couponing.
"We save money at the grocery store, on vacation, we save money at the mall - just amazing how many places you can save money," said Rachel.
In eight years of clipping Rachel has saved thousands of dollars. She now has her own blog, Couponing with Rachel and she was just awarded 'best local blog' by Scene Magazine. For coupon rookies it's a great place to start saving.
"What I do on my blog, I type up all the deals, link it to all the coupons. Even printables so they don't even have to search for them," added Rachel.
Rachel says a beginner could easily save 40% on groceries and other items. She showed us a few products she scored in the last week for FREE, like a toothpaste deal...
"They're a dollar each and I had a 50-cents off coupon that will double at Giant Eagle - 50-cents worth a dollar - so completely free," Rachel said.
Rachel says you don't have to stockpile outrageous amounts of products to see savings.
"If something is on sale this week.. with in 4-6 weeks it's gonna be on sale again so you don't need 40 tubes of toothpaste only enough to get through 4-6 weeks," Rachel explained.
The best kept Black Friday secret Rachel says -- shop the drug stores.
"Each store has freebies coming into Thanksgiving week. You're able to get things to use as Christmas gifts or keep for yourself," Rachel said.
