After months of considering whether or not to stick a Sunoco decal on his black Ford F150, Francisco Davis made the decision that would make him a grand prize winner.
Just minutes after Davis decided to participate in Sunoco's Free Fuel 5000, Sunoco spotters spied him at his local Sunoco station in N. Olmsted and rewarded him with a $10 gift card
He was also entered into the contest for a Grand Prize of $5,000 in Sunoco fuel-- and won!
On Friday, November 13, Sunoco held a celebration in honor of Davis, who collected $5,000 worth of fuel at the Sunoco station on 23370 Lorain Road.
A spokesperson from the company says that Davis is a 35-year-old father of five, and an Army vet currently on disability.
With the gift of abundant gas, plans of a road trip to visit extended family in Georgia and Nebraska are taking shape.
"It's been years since I've seen my relatives," he said, "and this is the perfect opportunity to make the trip and catch up – in person."
"We love this contest because it rewards some of our most loyal customers," said Drew Kabakoff, brand marketing director. "It's gratifying that to think that this award will allow Francisco to see his family in far-away places."
The Free Fuel 5000 rewards Sunoco customers who proudly display on their own vehicle the same Sunoco decal found on their favorite NASCAR race cars. The contest, which is now in it's 11th year, is awarding $5,000 in Sunoco fuel to each of 14 Grand Prize winners nationwide – the most in the contest's history.
In addition, more than 6,000 Instant Winners earned a $10 Sunoco gas card this year when they were spotted at their local Sunoco station with the special Sunoco decal on their vehicle.
Sunoco is giving out cash and prizes worth more than $130,000 to loyal Sunoco customers in 2015.
