NORTHEAST OHIO (WOIO) -
Organizers of Saturday's Democratic debate were under fire for holding it on a weekend night, when fewer people were expected to watch but Cleveland 19 found several watch parties.
We started the night at Bar Louie in downtown Cleveland where an intimate group of Hillary Clinton supporters gathered to watch the debate.
Some folks came decked out in t-shirts, with stickers and pins and cheered when Hillary spoke. An organizer said the goal is to get the word out about what Clinton can do for Ohio.
In Lakewood, Bernie Sanders supporters packed the back room at the Bevy in Birdtown. They too were wearing t-shirts and there were posters all around the room. There were several rounds of applause every time Bernie Sanders answered a question.
Everyone says it was a good night for a debate.
"You know we're about 11 months from election day and it's nice to see people coming out. There's half a dozen watch parties in Cuyahoga County and I think it's wonderful," said Karolyn Isenhart.
There are a total of six democratic debates and nine republican debates scheduled during this primary election with supporters for all of the candidates.
