Teen charged with 'Super OVI' after testing 9 times over legal limit

MASSILLON, OH (WOIO) -

A 19-year-old was charged over the weekend with being super drunk after he was stopped by Massillon police driving 10 mph in a 25 mph zone.

Officers said that the teen had a blown tire on his car when he was stopped on Cherry NE at 2:45 a.m. on Saturday.

He was charged with Super OVI, prohibition (underage drinking) and a slow speed violation.

Massillon police said many people don’t know that the legal limit for underage drinkers in Ohio is .02 BAC. That’s equivalent to one 12-ounce beer for a 180-pound man.

The 19-year-old driver blew a .182 BAC. which is a "Super OVI" even for an adult, Massillon police Sgt. B. Muntean said.  That's called OVUAC (Operate Vehicle after Underage Consumption).

No other information was immediately released about the teen.
