Reward offered for Akron man involved in shooting

AKRON, OH (WOIO) -

The Akron Police Department and U.S. Marshals Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force are asking for your help to capture Michael Deshawne Ayers, who is wanted for felonious assault. 

Police say around 10:15 p.m. on Sept. 20, 39-year-old Ayers got into an argument with a 26-year-old man on the sidewalk in front of a house in the 1300 block of Roslyn Avenue. Following the argument, Ayers pulled out a handgun and fired several shots at the victim, striking him multiple times. 

The victim was transported to Akron General Medical Center, where he remained hospitalized for more than a month, suffering very serious injuries. 

Ayers is described as a black male, standing 6'2" tall and weighing 219 pounds. He has a last known address on Stadelman Avenue. 

Anyone who sees Ayers is urged to call Akron Police at (330) 375-2490, U.S. Marshals at 1-866-4-WANTED, or Summit County Crime Stoppers at (330) 434-COPS. Reward money is available and callers can remain anonymous.
