WESTLAKE, OH (WOIO) - The Westlake bar where more than a dozen people were injured after a man running from police crashed a stolen pick-up truck into the building, has reopened for business.
Just 13 months ago two bartenders and 11 patrons were injured when Brandon Pawlak lost control and slammed into Dover Gardens Tavern. The most seriously injured included two patrons who were hit nearly head-on, causing severe lower body injuries and two bartenders. They were pinned behind the bar.
Pawlak was found guilty of 30 charges and sentenced to more than 35 years in prison. Co-defendant, Matthew Sowden, pled guilty to one count each of breaking and entering, and grand theft of a motor vehicle. He was sentenced to 1 1/2 years probation.
