AKRON, OH (WOIO) -

Akron Police are trying to track down the owners of some stolen items, after arresting the accused thief.

Police say the suspect assaulted and robbed an 81-year-old woman inside her Akron home on Highview Avenue Tuesday afternoon while she was carrying groceries into her house.

Several neighbors spotted the suspect and called police.

A short time later, officers found the suspect and his vehicle at an apartment on Nadia Court.

26-year-old Brandon Elkins was found inside the attic crawl space, but he did not go quietly.

Police say while Elkins was being transported to the Summit County Jail, he pushed one of the officers and ran.

He was captured again after a 20 minute search and foot chase.

Elkins is charged with aggravated robbery, aggravated burglary and escape.

Police recovered most of the 81-year-old victim's property. They also found other items inside the Nadia Court apartment that are believed to be stolen.

If you recognize any of the items, contact Akron Police.
