WESTLAKE, OH (WOIO) - The landscape is changing once again at Crocker Park in Westlake.
A new hotel set to open Thursday means a new opportunity for dozens of people like Antonio Lateulade.
The 21-year-old is a gallery host working the front desk at the Hyatt Place in Westlake.
"Here we really work as a team. There's a lot of benefits of working here at the Hyatt just to bring us up. We have a lot of training," Antonio said.
26-year old Ashley Atkins says she hopes her new job in housekeeping turns into something even bigger.
"I'm planning on trying to work up to be a manager or assistant manager, anything that makes me look better than what I am now. I'm working hard," Ashley said.
Employees say the open concept lobby and galley kitchen are meant to feel like home.
Guests will receive all the traditional amenities, like a complimentary breakfast, a gym, a pool and meeting area.
More than 100 rooms are outfitted with an urban modern feel.
"We have built in fridge in all the rooms as well as complimentary wireless throughout the hotel," says hotel manager Todd Lentz.
And before the hotel even broke ground, RNC delegates took interest, looking into accommodations last spring for the convention that is now less than a year away.
"It's phenomenal for business. RNC is really going to be an economic boost just for the Cleveland area, all that's going on. So it's going to be an impact of a full week for us that's going to have a long range impact as well economically," says hotel Sales Director Ivy Arndt.
The Hyatt Place will officially open just before noon Thursday.
Managers say there are still a few job openings.
