CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -

A group 250 of middle school students received a special visit during field trip to Washington, DC this week.

Tuesday, Cleveland 19 told you about Claggett Middle School eighth graders preparing for a trip to the District of Columbia, despite ISIS threats against the city.

During Wednesday's visit, while they were waiting out in Lafayette Square near the White House, DC Mayor Muriel Bowser came out to personally welcome the kids and to thank them for making the trip as scheduled.

You may recall, days before they left, a video released by the Islamic State group that claimed responsibility for the attacks on Paris, also promised to strike in Washington, D.C.

In 2002, Medina Schools changed destinations and rerouted to Chicago due of a series of sniper attacks.

That was not the case this year.
