CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -

Cleveland Police say a man's body found at an abandoned home in the 11900 block of Iowa Avenue on Nov. 20 was a long way from home.

The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner's Office identified the victim as Nicholas Rowe of San Diego County, CA.

Police say the 31-year-old was found around 12:40 p.m., when officers responded to the area to follow-up in connection to a missing person investigation. While searching the yard, officers discovered an area where the ground appeared to have been recently changed.

Police say the canine unit responded, along with a Special Response Team cadaver dog. During the sweep, Rowe was found buried. A handgun was recovered in the yard.

Anyone with more information is urged to call detectives at (216) 623-5464.
