$4K reward to find who beat Akron woman with hammer

AKRON, OH (WOIO) -

A $4,000 reward is being offered to find who beat an Akron woman with a hammer.

Karen Albright, 65, was hanging Christmas decorations outside her Dodge Avenue home on Dec. 1 when she was approached by a woman asking to use her phone, police said.

When Albright said no and walked into her house, the suspect followed her.  Police said she apparently picked up the hammer Albright was using and assaulted Albright multiple times.  She then took Albright's purse and fled.

A reward of up to $2,000 is being offered by Summit County Crimestoppers Inc. and $2,000 is being offered by Ken Stewart's Grille for information leading to the identification or arrest of the woman responsible. Albright was employed by Ken Stewart's for over 25 years.

The woman is described as a black female, 40 to 50 years old, 5 feet 5 inches to 5 feet 7 inches tall, weighing 250 to 300 pounds, with black hair with purple highlights and small braids twisted on the top of her head.
