CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - Ray Horton will become the next defensive coordinator for the Cleveland Browns, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
This is Horton's second stint with the Browns. He was the Browns defensive coordinator in the 2013 season. The Browns ranked ninth in the NFL in total team defense that year. Horton would head to Tennessee after just one season with the team. In Horton's first year with the Titans, he would lead the defense to a No. 6 rank in total team defense.
In 2015, under the-defensive coordinator Jim O'Neil, the Browns ranked 26th in overall defense. The Browns ranked 30th against the run, allowing 128.4 rushing yards a game.
Al Saunders, Pep Hamilton, Kirby Wilson and Hal Hunter will also be joining Hue Jackson's staff.
Saunders will serve as offensive assistant. Hamilton's new title is Associate head coach/offense. Wilson will work with the running backs as the run game coordinator and Hunter will be the offensive line coach.
The team has not yet made it official.
