HOUSTON (WOIO) - Non-profit organization K9s4Cops donated funds to purchase a new K9 partner from the Houston K9 Academy for Canton Police Department's Officer Ryan Davis.
This, after Officer Davis' partner K9 Jethro was shot and killed in the line of duty earlier this month.
Cleveland 19 spent the weekend with the organization, who wants to place highly trained elite K9s in the community and in the schools.
In the Houston area alone, K9s granted by K9s4COPs have confiscated over 80 firearms, 37 million dollars worth of narcotics, 2.7 million in cash and assisted in 400 arrests and 250 public demonstrations since 2011 founder Kristi Schiller established the non-profit.
K9s4Cops has been so successful, Schiller launched K9s4KIDS in fall 2013 in an effort to keep kids safe in schools.
