CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - A peer review of U.S. toll roads conducted by Fitch Ratings recently indicates the Ohio Turnpike is once again the highest-rated toll road in the United States.
Ratings reflect Turnpike's long-term traffic stability, low toll rates compared to peers.
The report ranked the Ohio Turnpike and Harris County Toll Road Authority highest out of 17 toll agencies in their peer group.
"We are proud to know that we are once again the highest-rated toll road in the nation, according to Fitch, and one of the best-managed toll facilities in the world," said Randy Cole, Executive Director. "Our customers and stakeholders have come to expect a high level of performance and we will work hard to maintain our standing."
Fitch's global rating criteria for toll roads, bridges and tunnels identified several key rating factors implicit in all toll road ratings, including resiliency of traffic volume, toll prices, ability to set rates, approach to infrastructure development and renewal, financial risk associated with the toll road's debt structure and the level of financial flexibility to pay debt service.
