One of the 100 Most Romantic Restaurants in American in 2016 is in northeast Ohio and three others are in the buckeye state.
Chez Francois, a contemporary French restaurant in Vermilion, again made the annual list voted on and put out by OpenTable diners.
The Refectory Restaurant and Bistro in Columbus and Primavista and Orchids at Palm Court in Cincinnati also made the top 100.
The list is based on an analysis of more than 5 million reviews of more than 20,000 restaurants across the country, all submitted by verified diners, according to www.opentable.com
Chez Francois is described as being the "perfect place to propose," by OpenTable.
"If you're a serious foodie" or "if romance is calling, sail on up" - literally - to this "French gem" on the Vermilion River, where the "sumptuous" menu and "professional but friendly" staff earn it the top rating from Food and Service in the Cleveland area; "well worth the drive" west of downtown for this "ethereal experience."
Matt Mars and and John D'Amico own Chez Francois and are very modest.
Walk into the dining room to take in the ambiance and you'll see why it was just voted, once again, one of the most romantic restaurants in the country.
"We are really conscious about every sense, the visual, the hearing. Is it too loud? Is it too quiet? Touch. Do things feel clean? Is it too warm or too cold? You have taste for food and beverages. So, you are really hitting every sense," adds Mars.
Mars is the maitre d'. His partner D'Amico is the classically trained chef behind the line every day the restaurant is open.
The restaurant is closed in January and February except for Valentine's weekend, when it offers a special menu.
