UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, OH (WOIO) - Anytime Fitness in University Heights is offering a new way to work out for people who might have a tougher time doing it. Most of the members of this class are disabled adults and for many it's their first time doing yoga.
The Loving Hands Group started this yoga class here at Anytime Fitness in University Heights as a way to enrich and empower. It's for disabled adults but members are welcome.
"It's overwhelming how much they look forward to it and how much they learn from week to week, we're really starting to see some progress there," said founder, Judith Eugene.
"It allowed us another opportunity to get people healthy, a segment of the population that doesn't have as much access to get healthy," said Sohail Ahmad, owner of Anytime Fitness University Heights.
The class started about 2 months ago. It's held every Friday from noon to 1 p.m. The new yogis say they love it.
"I think there's just an appreciation of that each one of them is given a safe place to be who they are and do everything to the level that they're able to do it," said Eugene.
There are some challenges.
"I want to make sure I don't push people too far so we always need to look and make sure that we're not pushing people beyond their level of ability," said Eugene.
But many would agree, there's a sense of peace in the space.
