CHESTER TOWNSHIP, OH (WOIO) -

The Happy Tails Cat Sanctuary is sad with the loss of one of its own.

"Jeanne Bones was a remarkable woman. I only know of two very brief times she ever took a vacation from Happy Tails Cat Sanctuary. She had a heart the size of the Northern hemisphere," said spokeswoman Doreen Lazarus.

Jeanne passed away Thanksgiving day as she was heading out to care for these cats she loved so much.

"And she made a huge difference in I would say in over 33 years, I would say she made a difference in thousands of cats lives" says Lazarus.

Located in Chester Township, the cat sanctuary will remain open as the loyal volunteers continue to care for those cats in need.

"We can always use donations. Large bags of dry cat food or canned cat food or scoopable litter, but we also need monetary donations to pay for vet bills and pay for medications," said volunteer Lynn Tezak.

The sanctuary volunteers are staying open and determined to find these furry faces loving homes.

After all, Jeanne worked sun up to sun down trying to find these guys a heavenly home.

"The cats were always taken care of and we're continuing to do that. It's in her memory and it's also the right thing to do," Lazarus.

If you would like to donate to Happy Tails, call Doreen at 440-759-0076 to schedule an appointment or donations can be mailed to: Happy Tails Cat Sanctuary, P.O. Box 581, Chesterland, OH 44026.
