CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -

The Department of Public Works is currently servicing main and secondary thoroughfares with 43 snow removal crews deployed throughout the city and 15,000 tons of salt. These 43 crews will continue to service city streets throughout the night and the morning commute.

Street conditions are currently in fair to poor condition depending upon location within the city.

During a snow and ice event, service is primarily focused on main thoroughfares with the secondary thoroughfares being serviced as weather permits.

The Department of Public Works aims to service all main thoroughfares within four to eight hours after snowfall has ceased and all secondary thoroughfares within 24 to 36 hours after completion of the mains.

The City of Cleveland encourages residents to:

  • Please park off-street whenever possible. This allows plows to have curb-to-curb access and clear streets of snow more effectively.
  • Stay off the streets as much as possible for their own personal safety and to allow snow plows greater access to the city's roadways.
  • If you must travel, use caution and remember not to "block the box" at intersections.
  • Plan ahead for the morning commute and allow extra travel time.
  • Pay attention to local news for weather advisories and visit http://www.city.cleveland.oh.us/ and clecityhall.com for additional information from the City of Cleveland.
