AVON LAKE, OH (WOIO) - Avon Lake Police have charged two men for illegally killing deer.
Andrew Smith and Adam Petrella are charged with hunting violations and animal cruelty. Smith is also facing charges for shooting a bow within city limits.
Officers said they received multiple calls about dead deer with arrow wounds. It was determined the dead deer were not part of the city's culling program.
When Avon Lake Police responded to a dead deer call on Jan. 2, near the intersection of Redwood and Woodstock, they had a witness. The witness provided details on a suspect vehicle.
Information led to the two possible suspects.
As a result of the investigation by Avon Lake Police Department and the Ohio Division of Wildlife, the suspects were identified as Smith and Petrella.
