CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - We're starting a new segment on Mondays, asking financial experts their advice on things like student loans, top sale items and tax refunds. All things to help you save money. We're calling it 'Money Saving Monday'.
We're breaking down the top items to save money on in February. Local couponing queen and blogger Rachel Krych offers her advice.
Sale and clearance signs are a common sight at clothing stores in February, Rachel Krych of 'Couponing with Rachel,' says this is the best month to stock up on apparel and not just winter stuff.
"I was able to find clothes marked down to $1.99 at my local JC Penney, great slip-ons at Payless. They even had flip flops for $3.00. Great for upcoming spring break trips," says Krych.
Not quite as fun to talk about, or purchase, but now is also the time to buy tax prep software.
"You can score 30-50% off and deals don't really go any lower as we approach April so now is the time to buy that," says Krych.
February is the month of love and Rachel says you'll love the after-Valentine's Day deals.
"I am able to score up to 90% off. There are decorations out there, red silverware, red paper plates, that's the time to buy and put away for Christmas."
And we found out National Canned Food month is in February. Rachel says this is the best month to stock up on pantry items as well as donate to your local food bank.
"Stores not only have discounted items but they also have high value coupons throughout February," adds Krych.
