CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - Cleveland Division of Police Recruit Deshuan Wells arrested Monday by Columbus Police for OVI and weapons charges. Sources say Wells had a personal handgun in car.
Wells has been placed on restricted duty in the Cleveland Police Academy pending further action by the City of Cleveland, Department of Public Safety.
He will not return to the Ohio State Highway Patrol Academy in Columbus at this time.
135th Cleveland Police Academy left Cleveland Wednesday, December 16, 2015, to begin training in Columbus.
The 50 new recruits are being trained at the Training Academy of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
This is the first Cleveland Division of Police academy class to begin training with Cleveland's law enforcement partners of the Ohio State Highway Patrol. The recruits will graduate from the Ohio State Highway Patrol Academy on May 6, 2016.
