CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - A traffic alert for drivers begins Monday for anyone using the Shoreway.
The Ohio Department of Transportation is closing and rebuilding the ramps in and out of Edgewater Park. They will stay closed until sometime in May.
Work is scheduled to avoid impacting the peak summer season. Construction of the Cleveland Metroparks' roundabout in lower Edgewater Park will begin during this time and will continue through early summer.
For westbound Shoreway motorists who would like to access Edgewater: Continue on the westbound Shoreway to West Blvd, turn right on West Blvd, enter the Shoreway in the eastbound direction via the Lake Ave entrance ramp, exit at the West 73rd exit.
For Edgewater motorists who would like to access the Shoreway westbound: Enter the Shoreway in the eastbound direction, exit at West 45th, turn right on Detroit, turn right on West 49th, take the ramp to enter the westbound Shoreway.
Detour signs are posted.
The construction is all part of the Lakefront West Project that begin in June 2015.
The changes are expected to increase access to Lake Erie, improve green space, biking and pedestrian facilities, increase development potential and simplify connections along the now limited-access freeway.
