UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, OH (WOIO) -

University Heights Police are looking for a man who robbed a driver at knifepoint on Friday, Nov. 19.

Police said the driver was stopped at the intersection of Cedar and Warrensville Roads when he was approached by a man who was dressed in construction gear, including a hard hat. The man asked the driver for a ride and the driver let him in.

The suspect then pulled out a knife and demanded the driver's money. The driver handed him $30 in cash and the suspect took off, according to a police report.

The victim described the suspect was a black man, around 5'8" and 150 pounds. He was wearing a neon green sweater and neon green reflective vest. He was also wearing a white construction-style hard hat.

Police told Cleveland 19 that they are looking into the possibility that this case may be related to several 2015 cases in Willoughby, Garfield Heights, and Beachwood, where a man was posing as a construction worker asking for rides. The man would then steal from the driver.

Anyone with information on the suspect should call police at (216) 932-1800.
