NORTH RIDGEVILLE, OH (WOIO) - Police in North Ridgeville have cancelled an investigation after a possible abduction that was reported on Wednesday turned out to be a misunderstanding.

A telephone message sent to residents from the chief said that around 2:40 p.m., an 11-year-old middle school student called police and said he saw a girl around 12 years old, get pulled into a van. He said the alleged abduction happened in the area of Ridge Plaza Drive.

Police distributed the vehicle's description to area departments, but after a short period of time, the van in question was located and the driver willingly spoke with police.

After the driver was questioned, police learned the reported incident was just misinterpreted. No one was abducted.

Police still offered their gratitude to the boy, who did exactly what is expected of him, by calling the police after observing suspicious activity.
