Icy road may be to blame in CLE police officer crash

CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -

A Cleveland police officer was injured in a one-car crash early Friday morning.

His cruiser crashed on East 71st Street near Lawnview around 3 a.m.

Officer John Lundy was transported to MetroHealth Medical Center with two broken bones in his left leg, two broken ribs and partial lung collapse.Cleveland

Police Patrolmen's Association:

Cleveland Police Officer Lundy was in a single car crash last night and is in serious but stable condition, He is in surgery this minute. Please keep him and his family in your thoughts and prayers. and thank you to the citizen that heard the crash and called 911.

The officer was not responding to a call at the time of the accident. It's believed icy roads played a part in the crash.
