ROCKY RIVER, OH (WOIO) - A student charged with attacking another student at Westlake High School went before a judge Tuesday morning.
Deandrew Smith, 18, pleaded not guilty to felonious assault and remained out on bond.
He was also ordered to have no contact with the 17-year-old victim, who has been released from the hospital.
Smith's case will be bound over to the grand jury. The fight happened on April 12 inside a bathroom at the school. The younger student was found by staff and the WPD School Resource Officer.
His family took him to the hospital, the school did not call 911.
Smith also has an unrelated rape and kidnapping case pending in juvenile court.
He is scheduled to appear before Juvenile Judge Kristin Sweeney Wednesday, April 20 for a Rule 30 hearing to determine if his case will go to adult court.
