Woman expected home, ex remains in Erie jail

CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - The man accused of kidnapping his ex-girlfriend from Oakwood Village remains in an Erie, Pennsylvania jail.

Kyle Johnson was questioned by police and arraigned late Tuesday. He's in jail on a $500,000 bond.

Police said Johnson kidnapped Brandi Shakir from her mother's home on Monday in Oakwood Village then set fire to the house.

Tuesday morning, Johnson allegedly broke into a random home in Erie and attacked the woman living there.

Her husband came home and police said Johnson attacked him. The scuffle ended up outside. Two neighbors came to his rescue. One neighbor called police. Police said another neighbor tried to help and ended up shooting Johnson twice.

The male homeowner is out of the hospital. His wife is fighting for her life in ICU.

The couple owns a bar and restaurant in Erie called the Sandbar.

Shakir was also beaten. She was found in the basement of the Erie home. She is out of the hospital and expected to return to Oakwood Wednesday.
