WESTLAKE, OH (WOIO) - Hundreds of women, and a few men gathered to talk about and listen to what "Success Redefined" means in the changing business world and city of Cleveland Wednesday morning at the Smart Women Awards breakfast, hosted by Smart Business Magazine at La Centre in Westlake.
Cleveland 19's Tiffani Tucker moderated the discussion.
"It's about living from the inside out and living your authentic life," said Dr. Margaret McKenzie of the Cleveland Clinic.
"In order to accomplish that, you have to be empowered and you have to empower others," explained McKenzie.
JumpStart Inc. president Cathy Belk is the first female top leader for the non-profit that's invested $30 million in more than 80 companies.
What does success mean to her?
"To come to work everyday, to be able to contribute at your utmost and to enable everybody else that your working with to be able fulfill their potential too," said Cathy Belk.
Wendy Edgar is Americas human resource director for EY, overseeing 40,000 U.S. employees. She helped build an in-house recruiting network and wellness program.
"The more leaders we have as women, the more we're putting agenda items on the table women care about and so it's exciting to see the growth in that," explained Edgar.
Women from all walks of life sharing their knowledge to help others achieve, while continuing to contribute to Cleveland's growing landscape.
