Joe Walsh says he was duped, cancels CLE concert

CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - Eagles keyboardist and guitarist Joe Walsh withdrew from a summer concert in Cleveland.

Walsh in a statement said "it was my understanding that I was playing a concert which was a non-partisan event."

The event scheduled for Monday, July 18 in Cleveland is a launch for the Republican National Convention.

Walsh said he's "concerned about the rampant vitriol, fear-mongering and bullying coming from the current Republican campaigns."

He called it "isolationist" and "spiteful."

Walsh said he will look at doing a veteran-related concert later this year and apologized to fans and veterans for not participating.

The RNC is scheduled to take place in Cleveland July 18 - 21 at Quicken Loans Arena.
