Police: Thief targeting Church's Chicken on the loose

AKRON, OH (WOIO) - Akron police are investigating after two Church's Chicken restaurants were robbed Tuesday afternoon, possibly by the same suspect.

The first robbery occurred around 2:30 p.m. at the Church's Chicken, located at 1261 Copley Road. The armed suspect entered the restaurant, walked up to the counter and demanded money.  When the clerk had trouble opening the cash register, she pushed the register towards the suspect.  The suspect opened the register and took an unknown amount of cash before fleeing on foot.

The second robbery happened shortly before 4 p.m. at the Church's Chicken on South Arlington Street. Armed with a handgun, the suspect walked in and said "Alright y'all know what this is! Open the register!"  As the clerk opened the register, the suspect reached in and took some cash and fled on foot northbound on South Arlington Street.

The suspect is described as a black male, 20s, 5'8" – 6'0", with black and light brown dreadlocks and a deep voice. He may have gotten into a four-door, late model Dodge Avenger, silver or gray in color.
