26-year-old Vermilion man fatally struck on Middle Ridge Road

Amherst Township, OH (WOIO) - The Ohio State Highway Patrol Elyria Post is currently investigating a fatal pedestrian accident which occurred Friday, April 22, 2016.

It happened around 8:36 p.m. in Amherst Township on Middle Ridge Road.

Authorities say Christopher Stoltz, 26, of Vermilion, was walking westbound on Middle Ridge Road, west of West Ridge Road, on the south side, when he was struck by a 2000 Ford F-250 pick-up truck.

Jeffrey Bardar, 54, the driver of that vehicle was traveling eastbound on Middle Ridge Road at the time of the accident.

EMS transported  Stoltz from the scene to Mercy Hospital in Lorain, where he was pronounced dead at 9:06 p.m.

Bardar was not injured.

At this time no charges have been filed as investigators continue to look for answers in the deadly incident.

It is unknown whether alcohol and or drug usage was a factor.
