Family of geese set up home in Cleveland Hts. planter

CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, OH (WOIO) - A Cleveland Heights resident is tiptoeing around her home after a goose set up a nest.

Sue Palmer said a cackler goose she calls "Lucy" laid eggs in her home's planter. Photos show how her mate stands guard and protects Lucy and her eggs.

Palmer lives directly across from the Lower Shaker Lake.

"Totally looking forward to seeing how the goslings will get out of the planter," Palmer said in an email to Cleveland 19.

A cackler goose has a black head and neck with white "chinstrap" to distinguish it from all except the larger Canada goose. Cackling geese are much smaller than any Canada goose.
