Z Files: The case for drafting a quarterback

CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - Sashi Brown is on record as saying he's looking forward to the current competition on the team, and doesn't feel a huge urge to get another young quarterback. Hopefully, that's the skillful negotiator in him talking, not the guy now running the Browns, because for all the hope surrounding RG3, there's no guarantee he's going to rediscover his 2012 magic.

The Browns have multiple holes to fill, obviously, but they're not going anywhere without a franchise quarterback. Thirteen of the past 15 Super Bowls have had Tom Brady, Ben Roethlisberger or Peyton Manning playing in them. Certainly, the Browns are far, far away from even dreaming of a Super Bowl, but why not find your leader and let the young team grow together?

Troy Aikman went 0-11 as a rookie, and he's in the Hall of Fame. Manning went 3-13 as a rookie, and he will be. The Browns obviously believe Carson Wentz isn't Aikman or Manning, or they wouldn't have traded down. But is Paxton Lynch that guy? Connor Cook?

Sashi and his fellow Harvard alumni have a plan. They also have 12 draft picks. One of those should land on a quarterback.
