Parma girls late getting home make up attempted abduction story

PARMA, OH (WOIO) - Parma police say two girls made up a story about being chased earlier in the week near John Muir Elementary School.

The girls, 12 and 13, told their mother that they were approached by two men in a white van who offered them a ride home on April 25. When the girls refused their offer, they reported that one of the men got of the van and chased after them in the area of North Avenue and W.24th Street. Parma police immediately responded to the call and began an investigation.

Both girls were interviewed by detectives as part of the investigation. During their interviews, they recanted their story and admitted to detectives that this incident did not occur.

They said they made up the story because they were late getting home.

Police have not said if the girls will be charged.
