CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - Which was the team that had eight days off? LeBron said after the game that he could tell Atlanta had played in a longer series than the Cavs in the opening round. Really? The Cavaliers came out with a head of steam and the Hawks seemed to be asleep until midway through the third quarter.
I didn't think it looked like the time off bothered the Cavs, I thought the fact that they seemed to quit playing defense for a while was the problem!
Why was Dennis Schroder able to score 27 off the bench? He's Dennis Schroder! Still, he was a big part of that 24-7 run that got Atlanta right back in the game. LeBron went a good part of the fourth quarter without a bucket. He didn't score his first fouth-quarter point until the 2:09 mark. He scored five from there out, and they were huge points to put the game away, but where was he? He was on the floor, just not scoring.
I'm not going to complain too much, they won, it was just a weird game. It was weird on both sides. Atlanta won't get 27 out of Schroder again, but they also won't get three out of Kyle Korver either. He only attempted one shot all game!
The Cavs won't get that luxury again.
Game 2 is Wednesday, it's going to be fun to watch how both teams bounce back. The Hawks went from getting blown out, to probably feeling like one got away. The Cavs are wondering how it nearly did get away from them. To be continued on Wednesday night…
