Former Browns receiver charged in golf course assault

HIGHLAND HILLS, OH (WOIO) - Former Browns wide receiver Reggie Rucker has been charged with assault and menacing after a fight at a golf course.

The 68-year-old was charged after police say he grabbed another golfer by the throat and pushed him down at the Highland Park Golf Course in Highland Hills.

Rucker approached Timothy Urbancic, and asked who turned on the music and if they had any golf etiquette, the report said.

Urbancic said Rucker could have asked him to turn it down. Rucker then moved closer to the golfer, grabbed him by the neck and pushed him backwards, the report continued.

Urbancic said he pushed him away and Rucker fell. That's when Urbancic said Rucker threatened to shoot him.

When police questioned Rucker he said Urbancic swung at him. He told police he didn't have a gun. While police talked to the other witnesses, Rucker said he wasn't feeling well, so police had him taken to Ahuja Hospital. Urbancic said he wanted to press charges.

Rucker is out on bond, and will be in court next Tuesday.

In February, Rucker pleaded guilty to stealing money from his non-profit groups. Rucker will have to pay restitution of between $95,000 and $150,000. Sentencing is set for May 23.
