ELYRIA, OH (WOIO) - One might think it would be hard to top being named the school's Homecoming Queen.
But for Elyria High School senior Elna Wright, Saturday night might have topped it.
Selected as 2016's NaJia Diara Rayal Foundation choice for prom, Wright was provided with a dress and accessories for her school's prom.
The 17-year-old is nonverbal and uses a wheelchair as a result of a rare progressive disorder.
Puffer's Floral Shoppe donated her corsage, and Textures Beauty Salon donated makeup services for the reigning Homecoming Queen, who was still in for one more surprise.
The Browns' second-year offensive lineman joined Wright for her prom Saturday, and was overwhelmed by the experience.
The nonprofit foundation was established in the memory of 8-year-old NaJia after she was accidentally shot and killed in 2009. The foundation annually selects a high school senior girl with exemplary character and/or good grades to have a special prom experience.
