CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - Some big improvements are heading to The Flats.
Jacobs Investments announced the master plan for the Nautica Waterfront District.
Monday, Jacobs Investments announced a master plan to develop the Nautica Waterfront District----adding 664 living spaces, a 150-room hotel, a 15-story office building, more than 3,700 parking spaces and other amenities.
"The little bit that I have heard it sounds like it's gonna be great especially for this side since they built up the East Bank of the Flats so much," said Abner Branch, chef at McCarthy's Downtown.
Some feel it's about time the West Bank get some "TLC."
Nora Garrett has been working in the area for more than a decade and says she's seen other projects prosper. Since the Nautica Entertainment Complex opened in the late 80s, millions have visited entertainment venues like Jacob's Pavilion, IMPROV, Shooters on the Water and Music Box Supper Club.
"Basically it picked up a little bit with the Aquarium but it will be more better with apartments and entertainment because since the Music Box been over there it's been pretty busy too," said Garrett.
Branch says his customers want more than just nightlife this side of the flats.
"They want it be more lively, like during the day. Like not so much at night but during the day they want it to be more family oriented," he said.
About 230 jobs will be added to the 500 already employed.
The Nautica Waterfront District is a $405 million development. It is expected to break ground in 2018 and take seven years to build.
The 22-acre Nautica on the west bank of the flats was created 30 years ago by Jeffrey Jacobs.
