Man locked up for burglary fingered for church break-ins

MEDINA COUNTY, OH (WOIO) - Detective's have made an arrest in the February break-in of the First Congregational Church on Center Ridge.

Police caught up with Robert Duane Davis, 50, of Medina. They didn't have to arrest him because he was already locked up in the Medina County Jail.

Why? Police say he got caught burglarizing a house while he was on parole for breaking into churches.

Davis would routinely approach churches in the area and tell them that he was a pastor of a struggling church in Lorain and ask the churches for donations to help keep his church afloat. Of course, these churches would help Davis out to the best of their ability and he would see where they kept their money. Once the donations stopped he would allegedly return to the church at a later time, break in, and steal their petty cash.

Pass Davis' picture around, if your church has had dealings with him, have them contact their local police departments.
