CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - Cleveland 19 is getting answers on nine water department workers fired as a result of a meter-rigging investigation.
Scott Taylor was first to report this story back in March and just tracked down the termination letters of the nine employees who were fired and the paperwork is revealing details of the controversial department.
The documents show one employee had his water turned off for non-payment three times. Each time over three years, the man turned the water back on.
One of their meter readers? The worker actually removed the water meter from their home and replaced it with a straight water pipe in order to fool the city.
Another employee who was let go in the radio dispatchers division for the water department rigged their meter at home to not record any water usage for the past two years.
