AKRON, OH (WOIO) -

A woman visiting Summit County from out-of-town has been reunited with her lost dog.

Police say the woman was visiting friends in Kenmore on May 6 when her dog, Emma, got loose.

Sometime later, a notice posted on Facebook stated that a dog fitting the description of Emma was found in Barberton and a telephone number was provided.  Emma’s owner tried calling the number, but her numerous calls went unanswered.

The following Wednesday, May 11, the frantic owner reached out to Akron Police for help.

Luckily, officers Andrew Bowman and Ryan McPherson were able to find the person who posted the Facebook notice.

This led to a second person who had a friend in Kent that wanted the dog for his elderly mother. After a little legwork, officers eventually found Emma on the east side of Kent.

Two hours later, Emma was returned to her tearful, but grateful, owner.
