CANAL FULTON, OH (WOIO) -

A teacher and coach accused of inappropriately touching two girls is on paid administrative leave from his position at Northwest Local Schools.

He has not been charged with anything, so Cleveland 19 News has decided not to name him.

The Canal Fulton Police Chief did confirm that two girls came forward with allegations of inappropriate touching. He said that the allegations were reported by a parent and the students involved and each alleged the incidents happened in 2016. The chief said that the school has been cooperating with the investigation.

It's apparently not the first time there have been allegations. In 2002, the Toledo Blade reported that the teacher was sued, accused of sexually touching and harassing a 15-year-old female student at a private catholic school for months in 1990. The report stated that a confidential settlement was reached between victim and diocesan lawyers in 1995.

Cleveland 19 reached out to the Ohio Department of Education and learned that the suspect doesn't have any disciplinary history with the ODE. The department spokesperson wouldn't confirm or deny if there were any investigations into his behavior in the past.
