Hollywood closes off roads for Fast 8 filming

Roads closed off for action movie

CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - The Fast and Furious franchise is in Cleveland for the next several days.

"Fast 8", an action movie that centers around illegal street racing and car heists, will film on downtown streets from May 18 - June 8. Expect car chases, car flips, shooting, and cars crashing into buildings and motorcades.

Filming will be in and around Public Square, including East 9th Street, Chester Avenue, Euclid Avenue, Ontario Street, Prospect Avenue, Superior Avenue and Vincent Avenue. Only a few roads will be closed at a time.

May 18 - 20
Superior Ave. will be closed - Roadway to E. 12th (6 a.m. - 8 p.m.)
E. 9th will be periodically closed, but not at peak times (6 a.m. - 8 p.m., 3 p.m. - 5 p.m.)
June 2 - 4
St. Clair Ave. will be closed W. 3rd to E. 12th (6 a.m. - 8 p.m.)

The filming will also require parking lots for trucks with equipment, crew and catering. The movie, which takes place in New York City, is slated to open on April 4, 2017.

From May 18-20, filming will cause these bus routes to be rerouted:

NineTwelve Trolley, B-Line Trolley, 3, 11, 22, 26, 38, 39, 39F, 239, 45, 51-A-B-C, 53F, 55-A-B-C, 76, 79A-B, 81, 246, 263, 251.

On May 21-22, there will be reroute on 51-A-B-C.
